Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia is copied from an annual festival in Munich, Germany. The festival in Munich started out in 1810 as a two-week long party celebrating a royal wedding. As the years went by, Oktoberfest grew and grew. Today, instead of going all the way to Munich you can enjoy Helen's Oktoberfest right here in Georgia. One of the staples of Oktoberfest is the Bavarian bier called Marzen. It is a thick brew, traditionally served in autumn, and is noted for its high alcohol content and full flavor.

Oktoberfest is an annual tradition in Helen, Georgia and is in its 36th year. Helen comes alive with ompah music, Bavarian bier, and Polka dancers. Festivities include a parade, great food, and wonderful entertainment.
