Rome

Rome, located northeast of Atlanta, was first settled by Creek Indians and, later, by Cherokee Indians. In 1834, Rome became a city and the name Rome was chosen by a lot. During the Civil War, along with Atlanta, Rome was burned to the ground by General Sherman. However, Rome thrived once again after the Civil War, becoming a leading exporter of cotton. In 1886, Rome experienced a major flood that destroyed the city. The city was rebuilt with wide boulevards and beautiful streets, and today, it is enjoyed by everyone.
