Warm Springs

Warm Springs has lured people to its mineral springs for centuries.  Native Americans used the springs many years before the settlers came.  Around the 1700's yellow fever victims used the springs hoping for a cure.  In 1832, David Rose built the first health spa in Warm Springs.  However, it was not until former President Franklin D. Roosevelt came to the springs in 1924 searching for a treatment for his polio did it get national attention.  Roosevelt created the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation for those suffering from polio and illnesses.  Today, you can visit the springs and browse through the craft shops that are housed in former grocery and dime stores.
